Today was a wonderful day. We got a DVD of our kids in the mail. It's 15 minutes long and it follows the kids through the orphanage and shows where they sleep and eat and play.
Our boy (he's 4) smiled and interacted with his sister, his caregiver and the other kids.
Our girl (she's 2) seemed shy. She did not show much emotion. It's hard to tell, but I think the whole process has been harder on her than him.
Also, our case worker called and said that the infamous "piece of paper" from the orphanage was delivered to Addis Abbaba today, so our packet was submitted yesterday and we should be assigned a court date next week!
Several of my webboard friends have recently been assigned court dates in mid May (11 weeks out) and then this past week a couple of families were assigned court dates at the end of March (3 weeks out)! So, we still don't have any idea when we might be going to get them. The other factor is the high percentage of court cases that fail the first time...
Our good friend Dann Neigocki has graciously (thanks, Sarah :) offered to do a t-shirt design for us. We are really excited about it! We will be making them available to friends and family in the next few weeks--it will serve as our only fund raiser to get ourselves to Africa. Our tickets will cost between $1500 & $2000 each and the kids' one-way tickets will be around $1000 each--yikes! I guess it's like birthing a baby without insurance!
I'm exhausted. It's been an amazingly wonderful, emotionallly exhausting day!
